Nadir Ahmed is the Chief Risk Officer at Ominvest, reporting to the Group Chief Executive Officer and serving as a member of the Management Investment Committee and Management Executive Committee. He has over 16 years of experience across banking and investments, with specialties in enterprise risk management, investments, credit, corporate finance and treasury, strategy, and mergers and acquisitions. In his current role, he leads enterprise risk management across Ominvest, covering a diversified portfolio of businesses and interests spanning commercial and investment banking, leasing, insurance, private equity, venture capital, real estate, fintech, cybersecurity, asset management, and global capital market investments.
His career spans both business and risk leadership roles, with experience in evaluating investments, shaping strategy, enhancing performance, and balancing risk–return outcomes across complex businesses and portfolios. He advises on strategic, business, and investment decisions through assessment of opportunities, risks, market dynamics, and value creation potential. His investment experience covers public and private equity and alternative assets. He is recognised for conducting in-depth reviews that identify emerging risks, performance inefficiencies, and strategic opportunities, while delivering solutions that strengthen profitability, resilience, and shareholder value. He combines strong understanding of the global economy and financial markets with deep insight into the Omani and GCC economic landscape.
Nadir established Ominvest’s risk management function and implemented a comprehensive framework aligned with ISO 31000 and the Three Lines of Defence model, providing independent risk assurance and advisory across the business. He oversees investments across the full lifecycle, from origination through to exit, and serves as a strategic advisor on investment and operational matters.
Through the economic research function, he has contributed to research papers and policy perspectives on national economic topics, positioning Ominvest as a thought leader, with insights shared with senior government officials and key stakeholders.
Prior to joining Ominvest, he worked at Ahlibank in corporate banking, where he managed a diversified portfolio of large corporate clients and gained experience in credit appraisal, structuring, and lending. He later held a role within The Emirates Group in treasury management. He has previously served as a board representative at American British Academy.
Nadir holds an MSc in Finance with Distinction from Bayes Business School (formerly Cass Business School) and a First Class Honours degree in Business Economics from University of Westminster. He is also certified in Enterprise Risk Management.
